I don't chat up my boys while chattering on about THE DRESS. My two insanely adorable and ever-so-often, mildly irritating boys who can make me laugh and scream at the same time (MENTAL IMAGE: Jack in The Shining).
I have made a few compromises as a mom to young boys: coffee table as a constant home to lego projects; sport shirts once a week at school (yes, that is a compromise as zero seems more appropriate); Nerf guns; and sleeping in- ever.
Unnegotiable are clothes at the dinner table. Both a bottom and a top and underwear alone does not count as a bottom. Also, not up for discussion is mommy leaving the house not wearing exactly what she wants as long as it can be done in 3 minutes.
For the last 5 years, the secret to looking great in no time is THE DRESS, red lips, a stack of alternating bangles and a go-to shoe for the season. Less is more. Simplify. Every cliche imaingable makes sense to moms.
Maybe when my kids can dress themselves, I will take more time to dress myself. Maybe.
