The 2014 Olympic Winter Games are in full swing. Competition, medals, and ice. Oh my! What you might not know is that there is another Russian team that will not be competing in Sochi, but are none the less training hard in order to be prepared for their own games, Fashion Week.
They are known throughout the fashion world as the Russian Mafia; Miroslava Duma, Elena Perminova, Anya Ziourova, Vika Gazinskaya, and Ulyana Sergeenko. Each one has individually captured the gaze of every designer, editor, and street style photographer, most notably, Tommy Ton. They are captured alone, in various pairings, or en masse, typically as they enter every top named show in New York, Paris, London, and Milan. These women are far from camera shy. They are bold, they are chic, and they live for fashion with a fervor that is truly awe-inspiring.
The unofficial ring leader is Sergeenko who epitomizes luxury, style, and glamour. Married to a Russian business mogul, she began showing her signature Haute Couture collection in Paris in 2012. Her first show drew a galaxy of international fashion stars, unheard of at a premier showing. The others are equally stylish, yet slightly more edgy. Miroslava Duma, daughter of a Russian senator, is the founder of Buro 24/7, an international fashion lifestyle blog. Elena Perminova is a model, who happens to be dating a billionaire. Vika Gazinskaya is a designer, and Anya Ziourova is a stylist and fashion editor.
These women are like superheroes, beacons of light on the fashion horizon. Together they have redefined the concept of Eastern Excess. Their new looks are awaited with baited breath, and always met with gasps and sighs of delight. One thing is for sure about this team. They are ready to take home the gold.
