For a decade, I’ve made it my business to listen, learn, and lead on all matters related to mind-altering substances that support improved outcomes for women’s well-being.

CANNABIS

When a client in an unrelated field began working at a cannabis holding company, she planted the seed for me to begin a collection of luxury stash accessories, and this is the brand genesis of Van der Pop, my first cannabis venture founded in 2015.

After debuting with incredibly beloved stash goods, Van der Pop quickly pivoted to become an education platform for women. One of our early hits was 2017’s Women & Weed Survey. This lens on the thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors of 1,500 North American women revealed much about the work to do. to help women feel confident in their unorthodox choices.

This rich data set informed events, editorials, and speaking engagements and shaped our perspective on products. Van der Pop tapped into what modern women want from legal weed, leading to its acquisition by the world’s largest cannabis company within three years.

Starting in the Fall of 2019 with How to Do the Pot, a podcast demystifying cannabis for women. After hosting the first 50 episodes of a pot podcast, I wanted to spend more time supporting a first-time founder on cannabis.

JOHNNIE was developed by America’s first social equity license holder, who developed an AI-driven app to answer the #1 question cannabis consumers have to this day: “What should I buy?” Years ahead of ChatGPT, JOHNNIE’s failure to receive adequate funding highlighted the challenges women-founded brands face across all industries, particularly women of color working in a regulated “vice” industry.

PSYCHEDELICS

Simultaneously serving as the lead investor and Chief Brand Officer for JOHNNIE, I created The High Guide, a podcast about women changing their lives thanks to altered states of consciousness. As the writer and host, I became a student of psychedelics—yes, in all the ways. The first thing I learned was that listeners wanted access to safe psilocybin. Much like when I launched Van der Pop, consumer choice lacked connection and trust.

Enter OF LIKE MINDS, a brand representing the best psilocybin products in the decriminalized city of Seattle, and bundled with educational downloads to ensure consumers were well informed ahead of consumption.

After 3 years of investigation and experimentation, I launched SetSet, the world’s first clinician-backed psychedelic integration platform and community for women. This pioneering brand is taking shape to support legal ketamine-assisted therapy and rapidly unfolding psilocybin decriminalization across North America.
